Modem Recognition

Hi there,

Why the workstation does not recognize the Modem.  Any one has any idea?

Best regards

Maybe the modem is turned off!? :smileylaugh:

Unless you provide some details about your setup like host/guest OS, VMware Workstation version, guest OS configuration, modem (serial/USB), ... it's not easy to help you.

A VM can only use external Modems conected via serial or USB ports.
Anything that comes as an onboard device is not usable by a VM

Have you install modem plugin/tools for communication to your workstation?

Hi,

Thank you for the quick response. I got two other responses regarding the modem Issue. One of them states workstation accepts only the external modem. Your response was to install the modem plugins tools. My first question is where do I get this tool. And the second question is: did you install the tools and your workstation shows the modem in the device Manger of the Windows XP PRO?

Best regards

You can safely ignore sakibpavels post.

Only option is to use external modems. period
