Migrate from Workstation 15 to ESXI 6.7

Hello,

I have been trying to migrate a VM with two disks from workstation to esxi with no success.

Issues found:

  • the vm is either blinking or with a black screen after logon
  • bunch of errors, WerFault.exe, and that can't write to memory
  • to boot without the blinking i had to disconnect the Ethernet
  • the second disk is always offline

I have tried with no success

  • uploading from workstation to esxi
  • Converting to ovf and ova and importing in esxi
  • Converting with converter standalone to esxi, with machine running and not running

I was able to import other vm's with success but none with two disks.

Any suggestions to overcome this issues?

Thanks,

Can someone advice on how to best troubleshoot the issue?

I have no more clue on what to do.

Thanks,

We need to know about the current state - and how EXACTLY you uploaded the vmdks.

Attach latest vmware, log and the vmdk-descriptorfiles to your next reply

I have no objections regarding the vmdks you use- the import apparently was successful.

If the second vmdk is flagged as offline during first start it should not worry you. That should be easily be fixed by setting it online after first boot.

I have a few suggestions for a modified vmx-file - so please attachj the one you used while you created the last vmware.log.

I you have Converter installed - launch it  and use the "configure machine" option and select the VM as it is now.

That may help. If not - send the vmx-file.

No luck.

With the vmx you provided, the disks names where not accurate, so after i did the disk consolidation it was possible to start the VM

At first boot just got the same blinking wired thing, and the vm rebooted, after that i get the "WerFault.exe" error again

And can't do much in the vm. I've attached the vmware.log again
