Memory Settings: "Only users with administrative privilege can change these settings"

Capture.JPG

I want to change the above settings (VMWare Workstation 8.0.1, Win 7  64bit). I remember that I made some changes (I recently upgraded from Workstation 6.5 to 😎 to increase the performance by editing the config.ini file under C:\ProgramData\VMWare\VMware Workstation - which I reverted already.

Now my question is how I can re-enable this setting page. I am running Workstation as Administrator, frankly I don't even have another use on this developer machine, but the Administrator.

you still need to open Workstation by right click "run as admin"

maybe the permissions for the config.ini are misconfigured ?

anyway - why dont you just edit the config.ini yourself ? - thats what I do

plan A: disable that UAC crap once and for all
plan B: start Workstation by right click "run as admin"

remember on Windows 7 the admin account is just another user with restricted rights unless you use "right click - run as admin"

As I said: I am admin. And of course UAC is disabled.

Thanks for your support! "Run as Administrator" did the trick.
