A tad more information may be useful:
- Assuming that the Host is Win 10 what operating system is the VM in question ?
- What were the exact error messages, and where were they displayed Host/VM ?
- Are there any relevant entries in the VMware logs ?
- Are you using the NVMe 200GB device for any other purpose ?
- is the NVMe controller on the VMware compatibility list ?
Have you tried . . . not withstanding the above:
- Reducing the NVMe capacity presented to the VM.
- If the guest is either Win 7 or Win 2008 R2 then consider applying https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2990941. Refer 'Using VMware Workstation Pro' [v16] manual, page 17.
Host and guest are both Windows 10 Pro 21H2 with latest updates.
My disk is Samsung NVMe SSD 970.
Is NVMe 200GB device for any other purpose? No. There is only one file "w10-200GB.vmdk" on 500GB partition.
Is the NVMe controller on the VMware compatibility list ? how do I check it? please help
What version of Workstation? If 16.2.x, try rolling back to 16.1.2. That's the last version which seems to have the Disk Mapping actually work.
