[Lubuntu] VMware kernel modules compile error

Hello.

Just I have installed Lubuntu 11.04 on my old laptop. It has virtualization options, and it is checked in the BIOS. I want to use Lubuntu as my host system, and use Windows XP/7 (stripped) to run Office and WLM seamless.

Back to the thread.

I have installed VMware Workstation, but it goes a lot quicker than I thought. Mostly it takes 4 minutes on my workstation, but on my laptop it took <2 minutes. When I clicked Workstation, I immedately got an error. It can't compile the kernel modules.

I have looked in the log file.

---

Trying to find a suitable PBM set for kernel 2.6.38-8-generic.
Can't get required utilities make, tar, echo, grep, rmmod, insmod
Could not prepare build system.

---

Now guess what? All the commands are available on the system.

I saw solutions, but they were for OpenSUSE. OpenSUSE is not Debian based.

I am using the newest version of VMware Workstation, downloaded about 10 minutes ago.

Any help would be appreciated!

More detail would be helpful, since WS 7.1.4 works out of box with standard Ubuntu 11.04.
