Linux clock not in sync with Windows clock

Hi,

Running WinXp and VmWare Workstation 5.5.4.

I have a small problem with the VmWare clock: it is not synchronised with the Windows clock.

I do have VmTools installed, but can't get the Linux clock updated to the Windows clock.

Anyone any idea?

An easier way is to use ntpd in your Linux guest, and also add 'clock=pit' to your bootup command line.

That usually makes Linux guests run time fine. Smiley Wink

What is the exact Linux distribution and kernel version of the guest OS?

What type of system is your host ? Laptop or desktop?

What type of host processor are you using? Intel or AMD (include make/model

Have you read the following knowledge base article?

sorry I didn't give this info:

Linux distro is Kubuntu Edgy Eft, running in VM on a Windows XP desktop machine.

Linux kernel is 2.6.17-11-386.

Host processor is an Intel Pentium(R) 4, 3.2GHz.

When I quickly read the document you're mentioning, I see that kernel version 2.6.18 is solving some issues. Maybe I have to go for this one then...
