Linux Mint on Vmware

Mint installs without any problem. The initial display set by the installation is 640x800. If I try to adjust to 1024x768 the logon screen display gets messed up. Your missing almost half of the logon screen. In its place you got big black borders. Once you logon the desktop looks Ok. Ideas?

Did you install and start VMWare Tools on the guest?

Did you select auto fit window and auto fit guest in the view menu?

Hi I have same problem, I have installed Vmtools but still not able to use UNITY mode feature of vmware. Also login screen is not full, 1/3 portion is black.

Pls tell me how to install vmtools for Mint? I have attached screenshot of loginscreen and error which I am getting when I tried to go in to Unity mode.
