Linux Host - Windows Guest - Workstation 10 Crash when entering unity

I just upgraded my WS 9 VM to WS 10 and after upgrading, it crashes when I enter unity unity and open windows from the guest.

I tried re-installing VMware tools and it did not fix the issue. Several tests confirmed the same result.

I was able to work around the issue by disabling Display -> Accelerate 3D Graphics.

My environment is as follows:

  • System: Elitebook 8760w
  • OS: OpenSuse 12.3 (fully updated)
  • Display Adapter: AMD FirePro M5950
  • Display Driver: Up to date AMD drivers for the specific hardware

Let me know if debug logs will be helpful

Seems its simple driver dose not support 3d graphics

Correct, driver does not support 3D.

I am surprised that Workstation fails hard though. I would have thought it would handle the errors more gracefully and not crash hard as it does.

Hopefully the developers can make it handle these issues a bit more gracefully.
