Linux Guest + WinXP Host Behind Home Router Firewall - Can't Reach From Internet

Hello,

I am running Fedora Linux as Guest OS atop my host WinXP machine. On the linux VM I have a publically routable IP address and domain name. My setup is in my home and my connection to the Internet is a Verizon FIOS router. Could someone please provide me with the proper setting to allow me access to the linux VM from the outside world.

Cheers,

Doug Turner

If I am understanding correctly, you have configured the VM with an external IP address? Can you ping it from the host machine?

More likely what you want to do is to configure a regular internal IP address and configure your router to do port forwarding to the internal IP on the VM.

You can't connect your VM as an external IP address unless it's plugged into the external network as you can't have IP addresses on the same subnet on different network segments.
