Linus 5.5.3 host, cant double-click icons on winXP guest desktop

running 5.5.3 on linux host.

I can select the icons on the desktop, but no amount of clicking causes the app to launch. I have searched the forums but nothing relevant shows up. I have deleted the USB from the vm (and the cd rom).

I have no problem selecting menu items since they only require a single-click. I can select the icon with the mouse and press enter on the keyboard to launch whatever I need, but that seems wrong.

Vmware toos is installed, and the icon is in the tray when the guest is running.

Any ideas welcome...

Well, I uninstalled 5.5.3, installed the 6 Beta, upgraded vmware tools automatically, and all is well (double-click wise, so to speak). 5.5.3 must be buggy or something.

6 Beta is a little slow, but the debug stuff is on, so whatever.

still would like to know what the issue causing the problem in 5.5.3 is though.
