KB5019966 -> BSOD

Yesterday windows updates installed KB5019966. This morning the images did not start and reported with a BSOD the message UNSUPPORTED PROCESSOR.

The configugartion:
VMWare Workstation 16.1.2 build-17966106
number of processors: 4
number of cores per processor: 1
OS: Windows 2019 Server.

Bij setting the number of processors to 1, I was able to start the image and uninstall the KB5019966 and setting the number of processors back to 4 the problem was resolved.

Is this issue being looked at and will there be a short time path available?

Have you tried using the Workstation Tech Preview, as that has better support for Windows 11?

Same problem for me running VMware Workstation 16.2.4 build-20089737 on Win10 21H2 build 19044.2251. Guest is Win2019 version 1809 build 17763.3650 (with the patch still installed; taking a long time to uninstall with only 1 CPU).

Hi,

I have the same issue with:

VMWare Workstation 16.2.4 build-20089737.

Fix still works but as stated in the thread, takes ages to uninstall on 1 x CPU Thread.
