I am not sure if this is possible, so I would appreciate any pointers.
Here is what I am trying to do. I need to have 2 demonstration environments running concurrently as 2 different teams on a single vmware workstation host. The host is windows xp, the teams both consist of a windows 2003 server and a windows xp pro client. I need both of the vms inside the team to see each other and be able to access the internet. The 2 xp pro clients can be setup as DHCP, but the servers have configuration files that require the same hostname and MAC address for things to work correctly.
Is there a way I can have these both running on the host without seeing the issue of machine name/ip address conflicts on my network. I tried setting both up on team lan segment 1, but then they have no internet access. I tried on nat, but then of course both sets of teams see each other.
The host vmware workstation pc only has 1 physical network adapter.
Can this be done or not?
Anyone have a thought on this?
I figured it out. I needed to add a third virtual machine to both teams that had 2 nics configured, one that was bridged to the host and one that was connected to the team lan segment. I used one of the virtual appliances that runs on a floppy to accomplish this, think it is called vmware nat appliance.
Hopefully this helps someone else out.
