Is VMRun the only way to auto-suspend VM's in v9?

It seems that there are a few other posts on this subject, and looks like all the answers say to write a script that utilizes VMRun to suspend your VM's, and then attach it to the system's shutdown script in GPEdit. But I was wondering if there's another way, or if there's a way to do this for when my laptop goes to sleep? I could create a shortcut to the desktop and manually run it (but that's if I remember), but that would only be for when I suspend the laptop, not when it does it by itself (which I could disable as well.

Also, is there a way to do this for all VM's with VMRun, instead of specifying them all individually?

Thanks,
Brian
