Is VM cross-platform?

Hi,

Can a VM created by VMware Workstation 7 for Windows be used on VMware Workstation 7 on Linux? Thanks.

Generally speaking yes however anything configured with explicit paths of course will need to be adjusted. Also keep in mind that different class processors on the Host can/may trigger WPA on some Windows OSes.

Regarding the pure guest, yes. You might have to change The kernel in case of linux depending on the processor the guest was installed on and where it is moved to (independent from the host OS).

Depending on how you move theguest you ight have to adjust path settings in the configuration files.

A good tool to move guests around is the free VMware Converter Standalone.
