Installing VMware Tools in FC8- nothing happens

After installing FC8 as a guest on Workstation 6.04 (XP is host os), I click on Install VMware tools, nothing happens.

The "VMware Tools is not installed" message in the status bar is still displayed. I dont see any disk activity after clicking on Install VMware tools.

Has anyone else had this problem?

If you are saying that vmware-tools are not getting mounted then please follow these steps for manual installation of tools:

1. Click on Install VMwareTools

2. Inside the guest ie. FC8 type "mount /dev/cdrom /media/cdrom" on the terminal

3. If "/media/cdrom" mountpoint is not present create any temporory mount point eg. "mkdir /cdrom ; mount /dev/cdrom /cdrom"

4.Goto "/media/cdrom" and here you will find the installer files ie. rpm or tar installer.
