Installing VMWare Workstation on Vista Ultimate Build 6002

Can't install VMWare Workstation version 7.1 on my Vista, Build 6002 desktop.

Receive the following message, Error 1935. An error occurred during the

installation of assembly component {9DA4DC8A-9731-3F03-8BD5-FC17CA6848AD}.

HRESULT: 0x80070002.

The installation process almost completes and soon as the status changes to Configuring Eclipse C/C++Plugin, the installation is aborted.

I've tried the solutions offered in other VMWare discussion threads, unfortunately I recieve the same outcome during installation.

Any and all help is appreciated.

do you need the Eclipse plugin ?

does it work if you disable it at the start of the setup ?

I may need the Eclipse plugin. You mentioned disable, I'm not sure what needs to be disabled? The installation process didn't allow for user interaction after a few NEXT selections.

The installation did not include the Eclipse C/C++ however I recieved the same error message. See attached. This error 1935 is consistent and unforgiving. Wondering how I get this app installed. I contacted VMWare Support and they say that it's a Microsoft issue and that the resolution resides with Microsoft. I disagree given the fact I purchased this software from VMWare.

Once again, any assistance is appreciated.

please open regedit during the setup - does it list HKLM\COMPONENTS ?

If not it may help to load that hive manually before starting the setup.

You can find the hive in ...system32\config\COMPONENTS

Regedit does contain the HKLM\Components Hive. Still receive the error. I may need to open up a support call with VMware.
