I am using ubuntu x64 10.10
In the installation procedure, it asks for whether to save the configuration files or not.
Whatever i choose, it shows for a second "De-configuring", and then says Installation Failed.
Are you installing as root? What is in the logs?
Lou
Lou, yes , i am installing as root.
i did cat /var/log/messages | grep vmware , there is nothing there after installation failed.
How about: /var/log/vmware-installer
>>lots of things there..i
Agreed ![]()
CRC checks imply that the install file may be corrupt. Are you installing from the .bundle?
Maybe try downloading it again?
(FWIIW, I have been running WS on Ubuntu, 64 bit for several versions of each)
Lou
oh..damn ...i dont know why it gets CRC errors. I got it for vmware for windows also.
Anyways, thanks a lot buddy for all your help and patience. I moved to virtualbox in the meantime. i will DL it again, and see if it works.
VirtualBox is good, I have run it on both Windows and Linux. The only one I can get to run my multiple monitors properly, on Linux, is VMWare. I have also tried Xen and it works but wouldn't allow my NVidia drivers.
One wonders about the future of V'Box now that Oracle owns it.
We are running ESX on our production server, I use WS for program and Sharepoint testing.
Lou
Thats good. I am a home user trying to learn things like linux.
