I am new to Vmware got certified in VCP-5 recently.
I do have a Laptop of 4 Gb Ram with 500 Gb free space.
Can I setup a lab on Vmware Workstation 8 with 2 ESxi Server installed as Host, two Win2k3 or Win2k8 installed on each host and a Win2k3 or Win2k8 as Vcenter.
To practice my Lab, Like Vmotion, DRS Storage motion etc.
Install 2 ESxi on Workstaion 8 and Practice Labs.
Techies Please giv a solution.
Welcome to the Community and congratulations for the VCP5,
although it's basically possible to setup vSphere on VMware Workstation 8 with the proper physical processor (support for VT-x, EPT, ...) I doubt the resources in your laptop are sufficient. Personally I run such test environment with a DC, vCenter Server (with iSCSI target SW to provide shared storage), 2 x ESXi 5.0 as well as some guests. I do this on a I7-2700 PC with 16GB RAM and a 128GB SSD for the VMs and the shared storage. If everything is up and running, the CPU is fine, but the memory is usually above 14GB.

As said previously this is possible but would run as slow as a snail, I would build a PC for this with a quad core CPU preferably AMD etc.

Iam planning to change my laptop and go for a new one with i7 Prceesor,8Gb Memory and 750Gb Hdd.
will it help me for this purpose ???
if yes is there any laptop that you can reccomend.
