Incorrectly displayed CPU utilization using Shared VMs

Hi All,

I am using a machine named called SERVER (Core i5-2500, 16GB, 256GB SSD M4, Win2008 R2 64bit, VMware Wks 8.0.1) with 8 shared VMs (all are W2008 - a mixture of languages and 32/64bit editions).

When I connect from any other PC using the same version of VMware wks and its "File-Connect to a server" feature I can work with the VMs with no issues. Btw - I like this feature!

Now to the problem:

When I utilize the CPU in several VMs then the Task manager on the host SERVER correctly shows the full utilization of all four available host CPU threads:

But the problem is that the "client" vmware workstation displays utilization of a one server CPU thread only:

The green progress bar for the "CPU Usage" indicates that just one quarter of the host server CPU is utilized but the reality is a way different! I cannot get this "CPU Usage" value any higher than 3.3 GHz although the physical CPU is absolutely overloaded.

Is this a bug or just some problem in my settings?

Thank you,

Michal
