IP conflict

I have a VM workstation running XP Pro on a Vista computer. Everything is fine until & restore the VM machine. Then I get IP conflict balloons & my network connection becomes unstable. This only happens when I start the VM program. Everything else works fine.

Any ideas?

Actually, it says a "duplicate name exists".

How are you assigning IP addresses to your host and VM? Are you using static addresses? Also does the XP workstation use a network name that is different from the Vista host? In the system log for XP, what are the details recorded for the error message?
