Hi
I get the following when I attempt to start a vm after I've just installed a new software and taking a snapshot:
"The virtual machine could not be changed to selected monitor layout.
If you just added a monitor to the host computer, you must power off and power on the virtual machine to use that monitor."
I have powered off and on the vm, have also powered off and on the host but the message persists. After I click ok on the dialog, all I get is a blank screen.
Can you post the VMX-file?
// Linjo
you have now:
svga.autodetect = "TRUE"
svga.maxHeight = "1200"
svga.maxWidth = "1600"
svga.vramSize = "7733248"
try
svga.autodetect = "FALSE"
svga.maxHeight = "1200"
svga.maxWidth = "1600"
svga.vramSize = "134217728"
Thanks Continuum for your suggestion. Unfortunately it didn't make any difference.
does a start attempt create a new vmware.log ? - if yes - please post it
Connect with rdp or in safe mode, uninstall vmware tools, reboot, reinstall vmware tools. Worked for me.
Yeh, what @hoc said, worked for me.
worked for me also
Thank you
I have the workstation 11.1.4 and had updated my windows 10 to 1703.
If I uninstall the vmware tools I see the screen but if I reinstall the tools I get the blank screen again with this error message.
Thanks for replies.
I had the same issue and resolved it by using an older version of VMware Tools from Index of /45848/tools/esx/5.1p02/windows/x64
you can open the virtual machine display settings
disconnect 1 monitor no matter which.
then you need to physically disconnect 1 monitor no matter which also then connect back all the monitor the physical and at the vm machine settings.
