I install the vmware workstation pro 15.5 on windows 10 64bit.
last week, when I launch the software , It upgrade to 16.0 version. ( I do not have the license for version 16).
so I remove the software and install again.
I confirm that I uncheck the software check and upgrade in vmware.
but next day. I open the software, it upgrade to version 16 again.
Can any one help me to disable the auto upgrade ?
Is the vmware tricks to force people to upgrade ?
Thanks!
Hi @acloudtiger
Based on this article?
This is my updates setting. but It does not work. the Vmware still auto upgrade to version 16.
Have you checked the log file?
Inspect your config.ini file - this smells like you have an entry like
installerDefaults.autoSoftwareUpdateEnabled = yes
I comfirm installerDefaults.autoSoftwareUpdateEnabled = no
I reinstall the vmware workstation again.
I modify installerDefaults.componentDownloadEnabled from yes to "no"
I will check if tomorrow will upgrade to version 16?
I do the following :
1.uninstall the vmware workstation.
2. search all the file and directory with "vmware" keyword and delete them.
3. reboot
4. install vmware workstation.
5. modify config.ini
installerDefaults.autoSoftwareUpdateEnabled = "no "
installerDefaults.componentDownloadEnabled = "no"
I hope this can fixes this auto upgrade problem.
Thanks all your helps.
