How to let VM immediately start when clicking on *.vmx file ?

When I click on a *.vmx file of VM at first The VmWare app appears where I have to manually click

"Start the VM".

Only then the VM starts. Is there a way to avoid this intermediate step and let automatically and imemdiately start the VM without having to click another link ?

You could change the the default app tat opens a vmx-file to vmplayer.exe - now it is vmware.exe.

Warning - this requires registry-editing.

Or - create a shortcut to the vmx-file and edit the shortcut so that it opens the vmx directly.
