How to get Win 8 to work on internet connection in VM Workstation 8?

I have Win 8 consumer version working as virtual mach in WMware Workstation 8.  How do I now get it to use my internet connection and home network?  The network and the internet connection work fine on the Host machine.  I've tried both Nat and bridge connections but neither works.  Suggestion appreciated.

Then you can try host only network. Here is the  configuration steps. Have a look..

Host-only is not the way to do that, as this is a host only network. No way ou except you configure your host as a router. But there's no need for this effort and a host OS which is capable of routing.

Use bridged or NAT, where bridged is the preferred way.

Please set your guest to bridged and post the IP config from the guest and the host (Windows: ipconfig /all, Linux: ifconfig -a) after you have done this.
