How to copy file between host and virtual maschine?

Hi,

I installed the VMware workstation on the host (Windows XP) and

create a new vitual maschine SuSe Linux. I can ping the IP of the Linux

from host (Windows XP) and vise versa. But how can I copy files between them?

Besides, I tried using putty to connect the virtual maschine but it failed. I was told " connection time out."

Someone can help?

Welcome to the forums!

1. You can use the VMWare Shared Folder Option:

http://pubs.vmware.com/ws65_ace25/welcome/welcome.1.1.html

The Shared Folder Option and other ways are described here: http://pubs.vmware.com/ws65_ace25/ws_user/transferfiles.10.1.html

You need to have the VMware Tools inside the guest to use that (but you should always install them in your guests for varoius reasons).

2. Standard network share

You can install Samba on the Linux box and create a share or use the client to connect to a host share.

You can use the "ssh client" and winscp software to copy the files between the hosts.

You can also use Total commander tool to copy between machines

Thanks Sjadapa, I think it's better using WinSCP.
