Hi,
I want to convert *.img to *.vmdk format. Could anyone of you help me out?
Thanks
There is no way to convert a .img to .vmdk
If the vmdk (VM-Harddisk) is inside a img, mount the img and copy
the file.
*.img is a widely used extension.
Some *.img are compatible with *.iso
Some *.img are compatible with the *-flat.vmdk type used by VMware for the disktype monolithicFlat
Some *.img are compatible with the *.flp format used by VMware for floppy-images
as you see - there is no easy answer to this

some *.img formats are directly compatible with vmdks - some are not - so more info is required

Have a look a winimage. It can convert several disk formats to and from vmdk.
Maybe you should try using Starwind V2V Converter, you can get it from
here - http://www.starwindsoftware.com/converter. It natively supports
IMG format and its conversion into VMDK or VHD or between VMDK or VHD
and vice versa without making any changes to source image.

apt-get qemu (installs QEMU on debian/ubuntu)
qemu-img convert imagefile.dd -O vmdk vmdkname.vmdk

Just adding to this since this post is one of the first answers on Google:
On Mac OS you can install qemu-img with Homebrew (https://brew.sh/) using "brew install qemu". I'm not sure if qemu-img is available on Windows, but you could install Windows Subsystem for Linux and then use Antonio's steps from there.
