How to change disk partition inside of a XP SP3 VM

I am running Workstation 7.0.0 build-203739 on Windows 7 x64 as my host. I have one VM which is defined as a 100 GB and it was not preallocated. Currently there is a partion that is approximately 47 GIG and then one that is unallocated for 51 GB. How do I get the 51 GB allocated and seen in the same partition as the original 47 Gig?

It appears from doing research that the only way to handle the unallocated partition in XP is to use and external tool which can format and join partitions. I purchased the Disk Director version 10.0 from Acronis and it worked perfectly. I now have the full 99 gig of space available as a single drive.

Why spend $40 when there are free alternatives!

One can use the free EASEUS Partition Master Home Edition or just use GParted Live - gparted-live-0.4.6-1.iso.
