How to Setup Sound Under Windows 95?

I'm surprised this hasn't been documented better. I'm trying to get sound working under VMware Workstation 7 using a Windows 95 B guest. Currently I've tried installing the PCI128 drivers (SBPCI128Setupus_w9x.exe) which cause a BSoD during installation. The BSoD is skippable and installation finishes "successfully" but after reboot Windows 95 fails to boot with a Windows protection error message. Safe mode works but this leaves the VM essentially useless. I can't imagine I'm the first with this issue, I would appreciate if anyone knew how to setup soundunder Windows 95, it definitely seems to be trickier than with Windows 98.

Hi there jbruelasdgo, as it turns out I had already reviewed that post, and it basically already covers what I said in my thread. The main item I didn't mention was that I do have an audio device configured in the VMware preferences. For what it's worth, I was able to get sound working great in my Win98SE VM just not with Win95. Thanks for your reply though. Aren't there some official instructions on how to install sound with Windows 95? There are great instructions for many of the other things, seems mysterious. :smileymischief: 😐
