How I can get Dragon NaturallySpeaking to talk into my Linux virtual machine with VMware?

I run Ubuntu 13.10 as a guest in VMware Workstation 10.0.1. The host OS is Windows 7 SP1. Dragon NaturallySpeaking 12.5 is installed on the latter. However, when I try to write some text on Ubuntu through voice recognition with Dragon, no text get written inside the virtual machine. How I can get Dragon NaturallySpeaking to talk into my virtual machine?

I don't have this issue with Oracle VM VirtualBox. I have the same issue with VMware + Windows XP SP3 as guest.

My settings:

One way to circumvent this issue is to go though VNC:

But VNC is not very convenient. Any idea how I can get Dragon NaturallySpeaking to talk into my Linux virtual machine with VMware?

Thanks,

Has anyone managed to get this working in the past 1.5 years? I'm running vmWare Workstation 12 on a Windows 10 Pro 64-bit host using Dragon Professional Individual (14) and still can't dictate into my Linux guest.

I haven't found a way to get this working, aside from connecting through VNC (http://superuser.com/a/697632/116475), which is not ideal.

Update 2017-10-25: I still have the issue, almost 4 years later, now with Kubuntu 16.04 LTS x64 + VMware Workstation Pro 14.0.0.
