Help with ESX inside of Workstation

So I am running an AMD Phenom X6 1090t processor with an Asus m4n68t-m motherboard and 8gb of RAM. I have loaded Windows 2008 R2 with VMware Workstation 7.1 on it. I have installed ESX 4.0u2 just fine an am trying to install a VM. Everytime I create the VM and power it on I just get a blank black screen and nothing happens. Anyone know what is going on, and how I would fix this??

Thanks.

Ok, so I got ESX 4.1 setup on my Phenom X6 machine. Problem is when I try to create a VM using that installation of ESX 4.1 I get the attached error. Which makes no sense to me as the OS is built on 64bit and the processor is capable of 64bit.

Can anyone help me out with this?

Thanks.

You try to run a nested 64bit VM.

Inside a virtual ESX ... or Workstation ... you can not run 64 bit VMs as the ESX-host needs VT support.

A virtual machine by design (or current state of the art) never has VT support so you try something that is impossible today.

Hi,

I'm planning to buy this motherboard (m4n68t-m). However, I was wondering if you were able to install esx with working workstations.

Thanks!
