Help please, error message creating new virtual machine

Im new to vmware and want to create a new virtual machine. First I need to create a virtual machine then Im going to create Ace master but first things first.

I tried to create a new VM, I did the following

File, new, virtual machine and went through the steps to configure it, left everything default.

Then I started the vm with the cd in the cd drive and after vm starts to load I get an error "NTLDR is missing Press any key to restart" I also tried this by pointing it to my iso image same result.

Please help as Ive tried this with both my vista and xp cd and iso images and I get the same error. Also in the lower left hand corner of vmware it says "You do not have VMware tools installed" I assume this is to be done once I get my os installed into myvm correct?

Im running Windows Vista and VMware Workstation ACE edition version 6

I think I figured it out, can someone verify please.

I went to edit virtual machine settings, clicked on the floppy drive, then remove and now the error is gone and XP is installing... Ill try vista once XP it is complete.

My laptop does not have a floppy drive in it so I thought it was somehow looking at it first....
