Help creating a virtual network

Hi guys, I'm looking for some help with creating a virtual network.

The host O/S is Vista Business and I'm running Workstation 6.5

The guest O/S will be Win2K3.

Ideally I'd like a simple network with a single domain controller.

I will then join as many other servers or workstations to that network as I need according to what project I'm working on today.

I can build a Win2K3 domain controller, that's not what I'm looking for help with.

The bit I am wrestling with is, my host PC is already joined to a domain, and obviously that domain has it's own domain controllers.

I don't want to screw up the office LAN by introducing a new domain controller onto that LAN.

I take it this is an issue and not something I'm imagining?

Initially I was planning to use host only networking to isolate my own private domain/network from the office LAN.

The thing is, if I understand it right, in achieving this isolation I would also cut off my new guest network from the outside world and therefore would not be able to connect those servers to the internet for things like windows updates or software activation?

Is there a clever way I can get the best of both worlds?

Thanks,

Chris.

How about adding a second vNIC to the VM and set it to NAT to do the updates and then disconnect it when not needed.
