Having trouble copying Rich Text between guest and host...both Windows XP

I have an Windows XP VMware Workstation. I am trying to copy Rich Text and tables from MS Word of my Host PC to an application in the XP VMware Workstation. To date, any attempt at pasting text and tables results in all formatting to be stripped, leaving me a mess of unorganized text.

I have uninstalled and installed VMware Tools a few times without any luck. Any suggestions on how I can retain Rich Text and Table formatting?

Create a share point on your host, map to it in the guest, and open the file in the guest? As far as I understand, the clipboard copy/paste only does text streams, and perhaps does not contain all the RTF codes/commands.
