Having a problem cloning a vm.

In workstation 10...  The machine is shared so after powering off and unsharing it, the wizard successfully unregisters the machine and then hangs.

error says unable to copy and identifies the problematic .vmdk file.  The device could not be performed because of an I/O device error.  The VM is on a ssd and runs fine while in production.

Cant copy the files manually either.  After that the server is removed from vm workstation.

If I add it back in and try the clone process again, It passes the Preparing clone operation and tries to run, ultimately failing.

I found this command to repair a virtual disk

vmware-vdiskmanager -R "<path of the vmdk(virtual disk)>"

but it just returns me to a command prompt without and information or error.

Please help, I really need to make a backup.

Sounds like an IO issue on the host SSD drive. Have you checked the system events / logs (you didn't specify host OS)?
