Has anyone successfully gotten Shared Folders to work in Linux Guest with a Windows Host?

Running Workstation 6.5 on Windows XP Pro. Created a Redhat Fedora 4 guest.

I tried enabling Shared Folders. However, they do not show up.

I followed the "Solution 1" instructions (while logged in as Root) from this KB article with no luck: Shared Folders Don't Appear on Virtual Machines Running Red Hat Linux and SELinux

When I run this command: /etc/init.d/vmware-tools restart

VMWare tools appears to restart Ok.

However when I check the status with /etc/init.d/vmware-tools status

I get the report that "vmware-guestd is not running" and still cannot see the shared folders.

Any idea how to get this working? Thanks.

Solution 1. Use Samba and network shares....

Solution 2. Run "vmware-config.pl" again, compile all modules, check that they got compiles, start VMware Tools again and run "ps -e | grep vm" and "lsmod | grep vm" to check if all processes are running and all modules are loaded. Look for "vmhgfs".
