Hello,
when defining the hardware's list of a new web
developer workstation
(Windows 10 Enterprise 64-Bit DE) ...
Our developer uses "VMWare Workstation Pro
Windows" since years.
------------------------------------------------
Are there technical limitations (from "VMWare")
I have to take care when purchasing the new
machine?
------------------------------------------------
- CPU
Plan to buy a new i9 CPU with ... cores:
Are there real technical limitations or are
there limitations I can buy maybe additional
licences or something else?
Are there "problems" which I can solve by
spending more money for "VMWare" ? 🙂
------------------------------------------------
- RAM:
Are there any limitations for integrated RAM
(I would like to buy 64 GB for this new WS.)
------------------------------------------------
- I would like to integrate these hardware
components (storage devices) in this new
workstation:
C: 512 GB SSD Samsung PRO SATA Edition 2,5"
😧 4 TB SSD Samsung PRO SATA Edition 2,5" ( Samsung 860 PRO MZ-76P4T0B )
E: 4 TB SSD Samsung PRO SATA Edition 2,5" ( Samsung 860 PRO MZ-76P4T0B )
F: 10 TB SATA HDD ( Western Digital, server quality )
G: 10 TB SATA HDD ( Western Digital, server quality )
------------------------------------------------
Because the mainboard has not enough own SATA ports,
I am going to make a PCIe SATA controller card be built-in to
get additional SATA ports.
(We don't like NVMe storage cards. Too many driver problems which
have to to with the standard software(s) we use to create
"general/basic system images" for our LAN domain clients.)
------------------------------------------------
The planned storage devices:
Will there be any technical problems with "VMWare Workstation Pro
Windows"?
Maybe the total size/space from these SSD and HDD devices or any
block size "themes" ...?
------------------------------------------------
Hi,
I don't see any problem with the hardware that you are suggesting.
VMware Workstation system requirements can be found here:
https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-Workstation-Pro/16.0/com.vmware.ws.using.doc/GUID-47896F7A-2C4F-45...
hope this helps,
