Guest networking slow to start

I am currently using VMWare Workstation 6.0.0 on a Fedora Core host. When I reboot my host machine and start WMWare it takes about 1.5 hours before networking starts to work in the guest machines.

I have tried WinXP and Fedore Core 2 as guests and both exhibit the same behavior. From within either guest "ping www.yahoo.com" returns no response. But on the host that command and all other networking works fine. After about 1.5 hours, all networking with the guests starts to work fine too.

It seems like someting is blocked until it times out. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

Well, on the surface, it sounds like DNS problems.

Some questions:

What is result of:

nslookup www.yahoo.com

on both host and guest?

Is guest Bridged or NAT?

What is result of ifconfig -a on your linux host?

what is in your /etc/resolv.conf file?

What is result of ipconfig/all on your Windows guest?
