Guest machines don't see USB devices in "Removable devices"

VMware® Workstation 12 Pro v12.5.7 build-5813279

Host: Win 10 Home x64

When I used VMWare Workstation 10 it showed all USB devices . Now, in v12 I although I set "Show all USB devices" explicitly (http://prntscr.com/gfkypd ) I see no USB devices at all ( http://prntscr.com/gfky7k ) . How can I make them visible in v12?

Hi,

verify usb detected on your machine .

If you connect the pen drive to your machine , you can below option and once connected it will disconnect from machine .

login esxi and check - lsusb command to view device

USB device is detected successfully on the host but never on ANY guests (although I allowed "Show all USB input devices" explicitly). You are talking about ESXi - I'm on Workstation , so what command is to be used for such detection?

Make sure that the "VMware USB Arbitration Service" is running in the Control Panel services.

If it did not start for some reason, try to do a "Repair" installation.

Or you could look at this thread VMWare Workstation 12.5.5 / VMWare USB Arbitration Service  on how to run it from command line with logging options instead of running from the services.msc (for troubleshooting purposes).

i am also using workstation same version , only my vm is  esxi .

are you able to see the options on workstation , removable device and connected device  , if you don't see that option it might be problem with work station   .  you may have to install vmtools on gos .
