I am running the latest version of VMWare: 16.2.4 build-20089737
In my Guest VM's some of my programs displays in very weird colours.
I have tried with Windows 10 & Windows 11 Guests.
For instance if I download a file with Edge the little box where the download progress is displayed it is displaying in such a weird colour that you can't read what is displayed.
On the Windows 10 Guest I have Trend Micro Maximum Security (Anti Virus) installed and when it updates you can't read what is displayed. See attached.

Did you ever resolve this? I'm seeing the same thing with NEW Windows 10 21H2 guests on VMWare Workstation 15.5.7 build-17171714.
I have another guest that is a few years old that is fine funning Windows 10 21H2 -- difference being that it went through upgrade to get to 21H2. I can't remember the initial version installed. Windows 10 was downloaded from MS VLSC. I'm going to try an older version...
Hi John,
Nope, I tried all sorts of things but it still displays weird.
Sent VMWare a few e-mails about the problem but they don't even answer my e-mails.
This looks like a hardware acceleration problem that plagues Chromium-based things (Chrome and Edge browsers, anything that uses Electron or CEF).
The problem is solved in current Workstation Technical Preview (note, you have to both update the VM to tech preview virtual hardware version and update VMWare Tools to 12.1.0); on stable version of Workstation use one of the workarounds from this message.
