Guest HDD type changed to SSD after runnning WEI, drive optimization no longer available

Hi,

I'm running VMware Workstation 9.0.2 on my Windows 7 Pro x64 host.

I have got a Windows 8 guest with just one virtual disk - I had been able to optimize/defrag this virtual disk from within the guest until I ran the WEI assesment inside the guest. After that, the drive type of this virtual disk has changed to SSD and the optimization is no longer available (Optimize button is greyed out).

There is absolutely no SDD in my host - I use WDC Velociraptor 250 GB 10K RPM SATA HDD as my system drive and two WDC RE 2 TB 7.2K RPM SATA HDD in RAID-1 where my data including all my VMs reside. I noticed that the primary HDD inside the guest got assigned unusually high WEI rating: 7.2 - just for the record, my primary host HDD (Velociraptor) has got a WEI rating of just 5.9.

Is there any way to tell the Windows 8 guest that the primary HDD is not a SSD so that it allows me to defrag/optimize the virtual disk inside my guest?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Ivo
