Gamma issues in some games

I'm running Vista Host with an XP guest and I'm seeing issues with gamma issues in some games the worst was Half-Life 2.  It's not a critical issue for me as I don't intend to do much/any gaming in vmware workstation (I was just using them as tests) but thought you might be interested in knowing about it.  Below is the menu from HL2, the white half is how it displayed...the other half I adjusted in Photoshop back to what its supposed to look like.  I had to apply a gamma of .22 which is 1/4.4 I think its trying to adjust the gamma by 2.2 and somehow screwing it up.

Found some threads that has the same problem especially on half-life 2. I'm assuming that you have Workstation 8 and one solution could be downgrading to version 7.

I always get this type of problem on any FPS games I have. I am just not sure if the problem is coming from VMware or from something else.

Why don't you try running your VM on vmware player 3.1.5? It's free and it could be a start to troubleshoot this. Smiley Wink

I actually originally posted in the Player forum.  But since I've  upgraded to workstation and there's not as much action in the  workstation forum, I decided to continue it here.  And yes Player 3.1  does not have this issue.
