I can't use VMware because it ask for gcc 4.9.2 but I have 11.2.0 (Ubuntu 11.2.0-19ubuntu1) installed in /usr/bin/gcc. I can't use 11.2.0 because it says it is incompatible. What to do? I'm using Ubuntu 22.04
What version of Workstation are you trying to use the n Ubuntu 22.04?
Latest version 16.2.4
Install procedure . . .
Prerequisites:
sudo apt install build-essential
VMware Workstation:
sudo sh VMware-Workstation-Full-16.2.4-20089737.x86_64-Linux.bundle
or
sudo sh VMware-Player-Full-16.2.4-20089737.x86_64.bundle
* adjust for appropriate VMware Workstation version
Already have build-essential installed. I tried to reinstall VMware Workstation but still getting same error
Could you confirm versions . . .

Package: build-essential/jammy,now 12.9ubuntu3 amd64 [installed]
GCC: gcc/jammy,now 4:11.2.0-1ubuntu1 amd64 [installed,automatic]
Could you confirm your host hardware type that Ubuntu is installed on ? . . . for instance a QNAP NAS !
My hardware is QNAP TS364 and i'm using Ubuntu Station app to run Ubuntu. So it is unsupported after all?
Perhaps mentioning this in the original question would have saved a considerable amount of time . . . the only 'official' reference I can find relating to VMware for QNAP is vSphere, but would suggest, if you have any questions, heading over to their forum.
Ok, I will take a look
