VM's will not see your "real" hardware, they will see VMWare's virtual hardware. Just do the install and then install VMWare tools and you should be good to go.

So from where to get VMware tools? Is it an addon?

In the VM menu, you should see a choice to install VMWare Tools. When you select this (AFTER starting the virtual machine), if your host is windows, it should start the install. If your host is Linux, it just mounts the virtual CDROM drive with tools on it and you do the install yourself.

Edit: oops: I just re read and see your host is Windows. It should do the install automagically after you select it from the menu.

A correction to Lou's post above. Your host OS has nothing to do with how the VMware Tools CD file gets mounted. Replace the word "host" in his statement with the word "guest". In your case, your Linux guest. Read the Workstation User Manual - section on Installing VMware Tools in a Linux Guest for step by step directions.
