Fullscreen view on a 32:9 monitor

I just started to work on a samsung 32:9 monitor. I would like to use vm workstation in fullscreen view but only in a 16:9 (half the monitor) window. with view/customize I was able to hide most of the menu but its still not fullscreen. Any suggestions?

I have been having this problem as well, its kind of unbelievable that they haven't fixed this yet.

You should be able to create a custom screen resolution (with custom aspect ratios as well). So you should be able to create a 32:9 aspect ratio screen resolution.

Assuming the 32:9 screen resolution is 3840x1080

On a Windows 10/11 guest
"%ProgramFiles%\VMware\VMware Tools\VMwareResolutionSet.exe" 0 1 , 0 0 3840 1080

On a Linux guest
sudo vmwgfxctrl --set-topology 3840x1080+0+0

On Linux you should also be able to use xrandr to create custom resolution/aspect ratio but xrandr does not work for Wayland but the vmwgfxctrl method does.

The resolution never was the problem. What I want is a fullscreen like view in a 16:9 window on a 32:9 monitor.
