Failed to connect pipe to virtual machine: Access denied.

Hi,

running Workstation 15 Pro (15.5.2 build-15785246), I'm starting a VM to boot from a memory stick attached to this VM or better to the host, using a "PhysicalDrive" (technically using a pipe, obviously).

So far, this worked without any issues. After removing administrator credentials from the currently logged on user, this process fails with an error as written in the subject or shown in the image below.

I can get this running again, when executing vmware.exe from program files folder using run as administrator. However, this is IMO not best practice on how to run programs on Windows machines.

Well, question is how to start up this VM again and boot from plugged in memory stick?

I've already searched for granting the current user some enhanced permissions for pipe access, but failed so far.

Any idea on how to solve this?
Thanks,

Michael

Well, not a solution, and also some years old, but it may help to understand the reason for this.
