Exporting virtual machines from VMware ESXi, 7 to VMware Workstation 17

Hi there,

I have a VMware ESXi, 7.0.3, 19193900 and I want to export a VM (Windows 2003) with ESXi 6.7 or later (virtual machine version 14) to VMware Workstation Pro 17 and my questions is

1 -  Would I need to convert the OVF file? According to this article, Virtual machine hardware versions (1003746) (vmware.com) it is compatible with Workstation Pro 14.x

Or any suggestions on how to archive this?

Thanks,

No need to convert anything, as VMware Workstation supports HW version 20 and lower.

I just go to the ESXi web interface, select the datastore browser for that VM's datastore, open the directory of the VM and download the files.

IIRC, it will download the max size of disks even if thin provisioned. I think it just asks if you copied or moved the VM. Moved.
