Exception 0xc0000005 (Access Violation) (vmx)

Hi,

I have installed windows 2003 server on vmware workstation 12.1.0 few months back and it worked OK.

suddenly the virtual machine started crashing with below error:

VMware Workstation unrecoverable error: (vmx)

Exception 0xc0000005 (Access Violation) has occurred

Then I updated the workstation to latest release 12.1.1 and it worked OK for less than 48 hours and it crashed again.

I have attached the error dump.

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

You can try to repair the snapshot with vmware-vdiskmanager.exe
vmware-vdiskmanager.exe -R "D:\Virtual Machines\SAPPRD-INTERMIDATE\SAPPRD-INTERMIDATE-000003.vmdk"

You probably must do that several times - if it works at all. Check vdiskmanager.log to verify progress.

I noticed that you assigned 16 vCPUs. I bet you get a better performance with less vCPUs.
