Error "incorrect user credentials" when trying to virtualize a machine

I'm running Workstation 10 on a Win 7 machine.  I have a remote machine running XP that I would like to virtualize.  I start VM10, select "Virtualize a Physical Machine" and in the popup dialog I enter a.b.c for the host name, xyz for the username, and the password for user xyz on the machine a.b.c.  The error message I receive after clicking on the Next button is "The operation could not be completed for 'a.b.c\ADMIN$' due to incorrect user credentials.  I am sure the password is correct.  I have also enabled the Administrator account on a.b.c and created an account for user ADMIN on that remote machine.  I've also tried using the IP address for a.b.c instead of the name.  Always the same error message.  Does anybody have an idea what might be wrong?

Are you providing credentials using hostname\username or username@hostname ? Check if simple file share is enabled on Windows XP machine and disable it.
