Error messages: Virtualized Intel VT-x/EPT/ AMD-V is not support on this platform

 

VMware workstation 16, but has an error does not support VT-x/EPT/ AMD-V. Goolged the issue and found heaps solutions, but still could not sort it out.

My laptop is Microsof Surface Laptop 4.
Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 Microsoft Surface edition 2.0GHz
RAM: 16G
System type: 64-bit OS (Windows 11)

Deploy VM Ubuntau.
Run system and receivng waring: neither Intel VT-x or AMD-V found.

Can anyone please help me with this out?

You may have to go into BIOS and turn those features on, then power cycle (not restart) the laptop.

That error message appears because of two concurrent conditions

(1) Hyper-V is enabled on the Windows 10/11 host
(2) the "Virtualize Intel VT-x/EPT or AMD-V/RVI" option is enabled/checked in the VM Processor settings

You only need (2) if you want to have nested virtualisation; e.g. run VM(s) inside the Ubuntu VM, or run docker inside the Ubuntu VM. If you don't need this, simply disable #2.

If you need nested virtualisation, having Hyper-V enabled on the Windows 10/11 host prevents it (thus the error message); so you have to remove Hyper-V from the Windows host. You can search this forum for numerous posts about disabling Hyper-V.
