I have uninstalled Workstation 5.5 and received an error message installing WS6. Error message is:
Internal Error 2755. 1601, C:\DOCUMEADMIN1\LOCALS\TEMP\{A3FF5CB2-FB35-4658-8751-9EDE1D65B3AA}setup\VMwareWorkstation.msi
I have removed every reference to VMware on the laptop (running Windows XP SP2), I ran the VMware-workstation-6.0.0-45731.exe /c switch, and also download and ran the 1308_fVMware_Install_Cleaner. I ran through the registry to verify there are no more references to the application.
Any other suggestions?

Delete your user-specific TEMP and TMP variables and just use the system-level ones. Some installers have an issue with long TEMP paths.

The Windows Installer service could not be accessed is the Windows installer service running?
What happens when you type " msiexec " from the command line?
Thanks, Robert. That did the trick!
Glad that worked. Sometimes it's that simple... other times even that isn't it.
